This is a public service announcement: I will no longer be called Dominic Clayton since my return to Amistad America, but I will now like to be referred to as Prince Clayton. Now let me get to the real deal, the transition. It has been kind of weird being on the ship for about two months, going home, then coming back. When I first arrived back in mi casa I went to sleep so early that everybody thought there was something wrong with me, but it wasn't that, it was just that my time was still five hours ahead-jet lag. To top that off I would wake up at all hours of the night thinking that I still had to do boat checks. What can I say?: once you become a sailor there is no going back. While I was resting to get better so that I could return at one-hundred percent, I noticed that I had a flusher on my toilet, on the Amistad we have to pump the toilets, sometimes I forgot I was home and tried reaching for that pump that wasn't there any more. My mind was all messed up! I still thought like a sailor, I almost started to do a Captain Steve and go ARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some how I didn't get to that point though.
Now let me fast-forward you into the return its gets good. When I finally returned back to the ship and received many welcomes, I had to immediately put on Amistad gear and start tours, being that I wasn't used to doing any work I had to realize it was back to the drawing board. No more flushers, no more, television, no more going to the refrigerator as I pleased, no more bed, no more phone, and no more "FREEDOM". The one thing I did come back to, that I am enjoying, is night time in Portugal. I don't know Portuguese but the hand signals for "you're beautiful" and "what's your phone number" are all the same. Now that's my change and transition. If you did not laugh at that I surely did and so did my colleagues. Let me give a shout out to Captain Steve: Thanks for doing what you thought was best for me I am really appreciative and I am missing your ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!
-The one and only,
Prince Clayton
