The journey up the river will be done in the morning looking at the sunrise as we pass the famous monument to discovery and under the bridge that looks like a three-quarter scaled Golden Gate. A city of hills and red tiled roofs I know now that I am on the Iberian Peninsula. The expectations built up on the way will all be met in a short time. The drummers that came aboard when we departed Cascais are warming up as we near the harbor. As we turn to pass the drawbridge we can see waving figures on the dock and even a few faces we recognize. The crew swiftly and smoothly gets the boat to the floating dock and we are now in Lisbon our port of record. The drummers scamper off to get in costume for the reception that will highlight a local African Traditional Dance Troupe. AMISTAD has arrived.
