Yesterday was beautiful, blue skies, sun and loads of dolphins, I've never seen so many in my life! A pack of 50 circled the boat all day. They especially seem to like hanging out in the bow waves. There were loads of baby ones too!
Dolphins are the fireworks of the sea-however many you see you can't help but go 'oooooo..... awwwww, wooooooh!!' I've also learnt that they, like sailors, sleep vigilantly! They keep one eye open, allowing half their brain to still be active.
I got woken this morning at 6am to raise sails, vigilant sleeping isn't coming naturally to me, I tell thee! Especially when my morning shower is a salty spray from a wave crashing over the bow as I surface sleepy from the focsle hatch! I am however actually enjoying the rougher weather and getting more and more interested in meteorology and oceanography as the waves get bigger. Fortunately for me, sea sickness hasn't hit me hard, although I did have a bit of an incident in my bunk a couple of days ago involving a holey plastic bag above the emergency storm sails.... not a good look!
