The exhibit The British Slave Trade: Abolition, Parliament, and People really grasped my attention. It was very helpful and a great example of public history. The museum had artifacts, pictures, official documents, videos, and audio to explain different parts of exhibit. The assignment we were given we had to pick an object, or picture and explain why it was important, point of views, and feelings of the object or picture. I chose a picture entitled “Out of the ashes: New manifestations of slavery in the 19th and 20th centuries. The picture consists of two Congolese boys that were dehumanized by having their hand cut off as a form of punishment for refusing to work while they were forced into slavery. Most of the Congolese people were either enslaved, worked to death, starved or, died from diseases. This is what I took from the exhibit in parliament yesterday in London. Comments
