Watching The Second Part Of Roots E-mail

The second part of Roots took place with the plantation owners changing Kunta Kente name to Toby. Kunta Kente would not let happen because that was not the name his mother had given him. They also kept him shackled because they new that Kunta Kente was a smart African man, and I feel as though they kept him shackled because they knew that he could be a problem for them.

I think they knew he would tried to run away to his freedom if he did not have the shackles on him in which he did try but did not accomplish. They treated slaves worst then animals which I felt was really not called for. Kunta Kente was used to his freedom so of course he would act different being a slave because he was always a free man. Watching Roots made me wonder if I was born a slave what would I do? See it was different if you were born a slave and if you were captured and striped of your freedom.  These are some of the things I don’t  think I would have been able to deal with mentally or physically. People see the movies and say if that was me they wouldn’t have caught me but it is different when you are in the situation instead of being on the outside looking in. The movie was great and changed my views on a lot of things in life I am grateful for what I have now because they did not have much back then.
