The movie "Roots" was a great movie. I learn something new every time I watch it. I found that Kunta Kinte was a very courageous person and that courage and determination are very strong traits in him. Despite any situation that he is in he always finds or tries to find a way to overcome it. There are many reasons why I say this.

First in the camp to become a man they have to fight a professional wrestler and he steps up first to fight. He does not succeed the first time and goes up again while the other boys are scared. Secondly when he is captured and is on the vessel he and the wrestler try to set up a revolt on the crewmembers they don’t succeed but he had the courage to try. Third when he gets to the plantation that he is sold too he is given a new name Toby but does not answer to it. Also he gets out of his shackles and tries to run away and is captured and brought back. He is hung and whipped and is constantly asked his name. He continuously asked his name and he responds Kunta Kinte until barely beaten to death he says Toby. Finally he is older and wiser on the plantation and tries to escape again. This time he is captured and has half of his foot chopped off. Just these few events show that he is courageous and determine person. This is only from parts 1&2 and I look forward to watching the rest of the movie and keeping you’ll updated.
