Watching The Amistad: Thinking about Slavery E-mail

Today in class we got to watch the movie " The Amistad ", some of the others had seen it but this was my first time. I found the movie very emotional, it is always a lot easy to discus what happened in the past than to actually have some one visually display it like Spielberg did. Imagery is a very powerful way of learning and with this film you really kind of feel like in a way you are experiencing the journey they have to get their freedom.
I have read about the story of the La Amistad a few times but to see all the facts played out into a movie gives you a bit more of a understanding and opened my eyes to the reality and brutality of the Slave Trade. I believe this is a good educational example to open up others minds of how it was back then and how lucky we have in now.
