Today I went aloft. I went along with Kent and Nadia to unfurl the square topsail. I had never been aloft before, and I really hadn’t planned to, but everyone said that I would regret it if I never tried. I had thought about it for a day or so and finally decided to do it. Kent talked me through the steps of climbing the shrouds and making my way all the way to the top. The view up there was amazing;

I had thought bow watch would be so much more effective from so high up. I believe I was about 120 ft in the air. The captain took pictures of us. When I finally came down, everyone congratulated me. I really felt proud of myself and that I had accomplished something, which of course I did. However, if anyone asked me to do it again, I would much rather not. I proved that I can, and that is good enough to me. I must admit that I prefer being out in the head rig much more than being aloft. It is a better feeling to me.
