Morning!  Oh my days, I can’t believe it is August! We are into yet another month! I’m like 20 and a half now! I’ll be 21 in 6 months! Time fly’s! Also, summer is nearly over-not that there is any real summer in England right now but at least its time off Uni! (University)
I have another ‘Oh my days’ for my watch last night as watch officer. It went great- for once! It was 1900 to 2300, felt much longer to me but I was really happy with everyone and expressed so in my de-brief, as we mustered mid-ships after we had been relieved.

The rotation ran smoothly and we managed to have a laugh as well. I didn’t feel under a load of pressure this time but instead I felt supported which is an issue I had brought up in our watch meeting earlier in the afternoon. We did a bit of sail handling too. It feels weird to give orders on something I still don’t have a clue about but it was fun. As I called out “ease off the preventor”, everyone was asking, “where did that come from?” as normally I’m quite quiet. So that was all pretty funny and I ended up enjoying myself.

I really didn’t want to wake up today. I dread this watch, it is so long but I’m glad I’m not the officer for it to be honest. It’s only 0740-it should be at least 09.30 by now! I guess the main thing is that by each passing minute we are closer to home. That’s what keeps me going besides the brilliance of my brother starting to walk-which you should all know the greatness of by now!  We have been going really slow, which of course- I hate. Our speed has been down to as low as 1.8 knots, mostly due to Captain and Chief Mates fascination of Plankton, producing ‘a need’ to slow the boat down even further to take a sample and experiment. There seems to be just a little conflict in ideas of priority here. I find that hard to understand. I also find hard to understand why we have a motor-and plenty of fuel to creep along getting us to England slower than a snail. Are they for show? Ornaments? Antiques maybe? Please, somebody let me know! Because all I know is they need to get emptied and thrown overboard.
