Acting Junior Officer of the Watch E-mail
Written by Erica Whyte - Sankofa Student

Today I was the junior watch officer. It was okay. The weather was nice and the wind fair, so there wasn’t much sail handling to do. Nonetheless, I still had duties. I had to constantly keep track of everything and everyone, making sure my watch members were on track. It is not an easy job supervising everyone, but it is important that I try my best because everyone is depending on me. I feel like I am getting better at it, although the watch-change is still a crazy time for me because I have to get everything ready for the next junior watch officer to take over. I am still working on that.
