I’m taking a break today. Not from my cooking. That is constant. Dani and I share cooking duties, rotating thru the meals of the day. One day I cook breakfast and dinner, the next, only lunch. It leaves me a fair bit of time free and after taking the first week to get accustomed and make sure meals are out on time, I have been spending my time helping with ship’s work, attending classes and boning up on History and Nautical Sciences. And now I need a couple of hours out of the sun as spring in Halifax did not prepare my winter white skin for this constant sun. the tune in my head ever since.
My birthday was a couple of days ago. It was a beautiful sunny day and I got to spend it helping tension the rig between my meal duties. The perfect birthday present! No, really, I couldn’t have thought of a better way to spend my 30th, sailing across the Atlantic, helping with rigging work. Right before dinner they called me on deck and Dani had baked a beautiful three layer, dark chocolate cake for me and Erica sung me a birthday song that she had written. I am not a fan of THE birthday song, but Erica’s was really wonderful. I’ve been walking around with Comments
