Hello my dears! Today is the 8th Day of the Amistad crossing and may I just first point out how bloody Hot it was today? Now I know what you are thinking, oh here he goes again chatting on about how hot it is, which is true. But you must remember were I’m from, though its not like I’m saying it’s always cold in Briton (which many if not all our American personal would say. That and the merry old England too) which it can get but also our summers are quite hot but that’s off topic slightly. Oh just to let you know iv just banged my knee against a large block on the deck that’s used to make of the foresail sheets but iv forgotten its name.

Back to today, which stared off with an early breakfast of 0600 which wasn’t fun since I had a watch just a few hours ago (just noticed the battery on this laptop is going) I’m on watch now but got only an hour left and I’m an extra again so iv got time to type this narrative for today out. Ooh that was it! Today we had a MOB (man over board) drill, which was quite good if not a little surprising. The one thing that got me though was the alarm for it which is quite loud and goes on for a while, myself and the rest of C watches duties during any MOB situation is sail hardening. IT would be the same during a fire drill too which we have practiced and had it go off once (at 3 In the morning when its raining and the boats rocking like a lunatic) I must say that I’m quite proud of my self and Imogen and Erica, that we know the parts of the sails to manipulate them such as the halyard, the sheets or the downhauls and today I believed we was cool and collected and did a fantastic job. Also, people today is Gina’s birthday! It is nice to know that we can celebrate something like that on the Amistad which was a much needed break if little for the crew and I know that she liked it too especially with one of Erica’s fab songs. Plus the cake always mention the cake)

Today also I started my and Tim’s section on the Bury The Chains book for our presentation tomorrow (I know the horror!) To my surprise I have almost finished my part which is good for it shows how fast I can read plus I took a lot of the information In too which I can only hope I can talk about on front of the crew. Should be fun, no? Well my dears thank you for reading today’s entry id love to type more like but there’s one percent of battery life and I have a headache and I need sleep so a good night and all that jazz. TA TA

P.S I have typed quite abit today, like wow I hope it makes it to the web and that so ok a basic report for now. We are traveling at a speed of 3.4 kts and are using all the sails except for the topgallant, a large cargo ship passed four miles on our port side traveling in the opposite position (or just about anyways) plus the Queen Mary 2 passed us again yesterday I think and she was traveling at 23 kts (can we say WOW!)
