Its 0550 and we’re starting to prep for breakfast. The sea has been smoothing out a lot and the wind has died down a bit, and with a sea surface temperature near 75 degrees and dolphins swimming around the bow of the ship, yesterday seemed like a tropical vacation (except for my 10 hours of watch, class time and cleaning).
Today looks to be warm, sunny, and clear as well. The sunrise was amazing and I got to go out on the headrig to take a few pictures. The oven is off, so we’ll be having a cold breakfast and then the whole crew will be working together for a field day—cleaning everything there is to be cleaned on the ship from top to bottom all morning. Even though the day will be full of cleaning, I think it might be worth it if it means we can turn the oven off for a while. It has been so hot in my bunk that I’ve tried sleeping on a 1.5 foot wide bench in the main salon instead just to get some air, but that wasn’t very restful either.
Time to wake up everyone for breakfast now
