Charleston was a major US city for the arrival of African slaves. Ports acted as an entry into slave labor as human cargo was auctioned off and then sold to slave owners.

I wish there were more advertisements in the Charleston tourist sites about this voyage. I haven't come across any sites that are promoting the Amistad Voyage coming to this area. I live in Atlanta and would like for my children and extended family to take part of this tour. I was fortunate to meet Quentin Snediker while in Cape Verde this month. My hope is to find tour packages that include this event.

Be encouraged ... for there are many of us who want to take part in this event in the South.

I am inspired by this nobel and worthwhile effort. There are moments in life when you bask in the glow of life changing ecperiences. This is one for me. Just reading about The Amistad and the connection with Mr. Pinkney has helped to inspire me to continue to fulfil my dreams. Count me as a volunteer when you get to Charleston.

I pray safe travels on the rest of your journey

My family and I really enjoyed your last visit to Charleston, SC and we all had the opportunity to volunteer on the ship and the children enjoyed the great learning experience, we are so looking forward to your return to Charleston in 2008.

May God continue to be a light onto your pathway.
