December, 2007 – January, 2008

Sierra Leone was homeland to many of the original 53 captives aboard Amistad. In 1841 those who survived the Amistad ordeal returned to form the city of Freetown as a monument to the freedom of the human spirit.

Freetown is the sister city of New Haven, Connecticut, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Hull, England.

Hosts: Government of Sierra Leone
