Erica Whyte was born in Hartford, Connecticut after her family moved to the United States from  Georgetown, Guyana.  She was in the city with the strong support of her parents and siblings.  Currently she attends the University of Connecticut where she just finished her first year  as a Coast Studies major.  Erica described her first year of college as a wonderful experience that helped her become a more confident young woman.  Before leaving home for college she was generally a shy person, but now feels that she has more friends that she could ever imagine.
