The days have turned warmer. A few days out and laundry is airing on deck as the heat and the ocean allow thoughts to surface within us. This will be the longest period of time I have spent underway (once the days continue to add up). It will be interesting to see how we continue to change and grow as a group – only having contact with the forces of nature and each other.
On deck is just about perfect. A beautiful night watch. Below decks is sweltering. The heat from the galley stove, combined with the heat from bodies and the dampness of clothes that can’t quite dry out make it absolutely stifling. After receiving fresh relief on deck from the wind and stars I started a boat check. I slid back the hatch to the main saloon and was hit with thick heat. It is amazing how two extreme temperatures can exist side by side. Two extremes of relief and discomfort juxtaposed on one small schooner. Comments
