A wisdom tooth left in Canada E-mail

Today we finally got underway for our transatlantic journey to the United Kingdom- for me, home. Even though I am still in pain from having a wisdom tooth taken out yesterday, I am happy to be in the ocean and to know I will see my family and friends in a matter of days. As we left Sambro Harbour I had a mixture of feelings, including those of sadness.

The people I had met were so lovely, kind and generous and I will (and am already) miss them; from the funny coastguards to the warm and welcoming citizens of Nova Scotia. They are all fantastic and wonderful people; a community I had actually fell in love with. I was at the helm as we departed the harbour, which was great. I felt quite overwhelmed to be the one who would steer us on our way and begin this 4-week voyage at sea.
It is now midnight and I’m on watch. The stars look so beautiful against the black sky and so does our boat, as we ‘schoon’ through the sea with all of our sails up. We’re not shaking too much either which is awesome for me! I wish everyday of our journey could be like this…let’s wait and see…
