I can’t believe that E-mail

Today we finally left Sambro headed for England.  We’ve been docked so long that it seems really strange to be constantly in motion again—I was getting used to the ship feeling just as steady as a building.  The tables were level, glasses of water weren’t always trying to tip sideways, and cleaning up in the galley didn’t involve jumping to stop the pile of plates 20 high from flinging themselves into utter disaster on the galley floor.  (Note to self: make smaller piles of plates next time, and stow them faster.)

I can’t believe that this final, long leg of our trip is actually starting— with all the waiting in Halifax and Sambro it was starting to seem like we would never really make it to this point.  We left the dock this morning and promptly ran into some Nova Scotia fog, which made for a wet and cold morning on bow watch.  We came out of it just around noon and the rest of the day was really great—sunny and warm. We hadn’t seen the sun much in Sambro.  Now its time for night watch, 2300-0300, and then getting myself promptly back to my bunk for a bit until breakfast.  Goodnight.
