Nadia Waithe was born and bread in Bristol, England and cannot wait to move to the bigger city. She is twenty-two years old with two things on her mind, having a successful job and being happy in life. As a Black British African Caribbean she loves to mix with all kinds of people, learning about different cultures. She is a Christian that loves to have fun, is always up for a new challenge and is always ready to crack a quirky joke. Her life is about being happy and making the most of what she has. Nadia is also a very active person, although she is getting old in her age she seems to look three times younger than what she actually is. IT’S A BLESSING!!
Nadia’s aim in life is to be a successful singer. She has been singing professionally since the age of twelve years old. She is a singer /song writer, poet and lyricist, not only does she sing and write lyrics but also composes music and is in the middle of completing her album. From the age of three years old, Nadia already knew what she waned to be, an actress/ singer. At the age of three she took part in a T.V series called casualty and from there went to an acting school called the Old Vic Theatre. After getting some experience in acting and being an apart of various types of plays she then decided to concentrate on her singer/ song writing. Nadia has been apart of many gospel choirs across Bristol and has also had the chance to sing lead. She has been able to sing at a football stadium, famous concert halls and in various bands. After High School she went straight to a music college to improve on her musical skills graduating with a BTEC National Diploma in Contemporary Popular Music and from there continued to do further studies in a Ba Hons Popular music Degree at Glamorgan University. During her time at university she has been able to further her studies in all aspects of music. Music is almost the second best thing in her life. What is Nadia like? Nadia asked the rest of her Amistad crew members what they thought of her as a person: Nadia is definitely a people person, loves making new friends, out going, intellectual, laid back, amicable, bubbly, she’s an extrovert, loves being happy and caring for others. Nadia is always up for some craziness, trust me, and get to know her and you will love her! (Ha Ha!!) Favorite music: Anything with a groove!! Why is Nadia with Amistad? Hearing about this trip Nadia had no idea what it would have been like to get involved in sailing across the Atlantic Ocean. Meeting other students from America and the UK. Learning about the Atlantic slave trade has seriously broaden her mind and instead of focusing only on whites and Blacks this learning experience has been more of an international educational experience than just the basics of what she arrived with. 3 Reason why Nadia is here: 1. She wanted to be apart of this amazing voyage because she will be able to understand the complete history of the Amistad Atlantic Slave Trade. 2. One of her desires is to open up a performing arts school for the under privilege and to use this amazing story to share with the youth, (Black, white, chine’s, you name it) as a way of inspiration for them to move forward. 3. Nadia is studying at the University of Glamorgan in Wales England, and with two of her friends they have decided to set up an African and Caribbean Society this coming September. I will keep you all posted. Thank you for taking time to read my Blog!!! Nadia If you know Nadia personally or would like to get to know her, you will realize that she is not the kind of person that loves to stay indoors but is adventurous in all aspects. From ice –skating to sky - diving, Nadia will be there. She is very out going and loves to travel, as she has been fortunate to travel to more than 15 countries across the world experiencing all kinds of cultures.Comments
