Hello, all! It has been a while since my last blog so here goes!
We have completed what could be described as the highlight of the trip, that being the schooner race. The start was a real adrenalin rush with all those sail boats, big and small, waiting to get off the line. Once into the race, all of the wind that we had at the beginning of the race disappeared and all became…well, calm! Not for long though, before nightfall we where sailing along at 10 knots, which was an amazing experience.
Today we have left Portsmouth heading back up the Chesapeake to our anchor point for the night. What with the wind being against us we are using the good old diesel sail. Unfortunately, I have the duty, so dishes and anchor watch are the order of the day.
It is getting towards the end of my stay on Amistad and I am now looking back at how quickly it has gone and how much I have learned, not just practical skills but how this experience has changed me as I person. I am sure the last few weeks will still bring me new experiences and new challenges throughout. That’s all for now, back soon! Comments
