We have completed the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race. This was my second race and it seamed much more calm then the last one. There wasn’t any good pranking. The rainy, cold weather may have had a part in it though. It was great to see all the other schooners and friends that I had sailed with years ago. We had a great sail, with everything up; it had been quite a while since last time we had such a great sail.
Now we are on our way back up the bay to the Cambridge rendezvous and the Sultana down-rigging party in Chestertown, MD. Then back up to Mystic [CT] for the winter. It has been nice to be near home and have a chance to see my parents; as well as be able to exchange summer clothes for winter ones, since it is definitely getting colder as we go farther north. The other night, the air smelled like snow. I just hope it stays nice enough for our trip back to Connecticut. There is nothing worse than being caught by a fall storm off the coast of New Jersey.
