It is hard to put in words how it felt to sail the Amistad into Sierra Leone, and I have tried so many times to describe the incredible amount of joy which was shared that day between everyone.  Then sailing her back to where she was built, where everyone was so excited about her returning after this amazing voyage. I met people who helped build her, old crewmembers and just people who love the ship and her story, who followed us through the website as we went.

Now as we prepare to arrive in Halifax Nova Scotia which is my home and get that same kind of flutter in my stomach of excitement. I’ve told many stories about my trip and experiences but the boat is so amazing itself that seeing her puts way more life into those stories. Its one thing to hear things but to see them always has a much more greater effect. So here I am day away from arriving and probably in as much anticipation as those who are waiting for us! But that is it for now and very exciting and busy week we have ahead.
