It must be lucky sevens !  Right on July 7th Schooner Amistad reached the number of 1000 Friends on Facebook. 

Virginie Brégeon from France logged in in a right moment and became Schooner's Friend.  I have promised a special prize - a framed photo of the Amistad for a lucky 1000th friend so now we will have to wait for response from the other side of Atlantic.

One may ask what is all the fuss about?   Social Networking became a very important link in any organizations activity.  I strongly believe that Amistad America must continue to build a stronger web presence in many ways.  Facebook is just one of the ways to spread the word around the world what Amistad America is doing.  One of the largest groups of Amistad Friends comes from Barbados due to the fact that Barbados visit coordinator - Christal P. McIntosh used Facebook in a model way to spread the news in Barbados.

This powerful networking service is not just for individuals like me to keep in touch with friends. It's a very effective networking tool for nonprofits to create awareness and connect with their community.
