Wow, Middle Passage done and over with! What a trip!
The first 7 days seemed to take forever, but like Eliza said, after the first week is over, the rest of the time will fly by, and it did. What an amazing and memorable experience to take home and to hold on to forever. I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to do this leg, and with such an awesome crew.
So here we are, Barbados! After deciding if we were staying here or going to St. Lucia, we managed to drop anchor around 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. We spent the first night in Bridgetown, and then picked up anchor this afternoon to sail up to Port St. Charles, out-of-sight until opening ceremonies.
We are unable to go ashore due to many projects aboard that are needed to get Amistad looking her best for the people of Barbados. After taking such a long journey across the Atlantic, there is definitely some work she needs done.
It's so hard staring at the beautiful beaches, palm trees, hotels, and everything and not having the chance to go ashore for another 5 days or so. We just have to stay focused and get our work done, and I guess the time will come soon enough. I will try my hardest and fight temptation! It was so nice to finally have the chance to go swimming. The water was so nice after a hard day's work, just like bath water. Well, I have to cut this short before I miss the sunset. Comments
