Today, A-Watch (consisting of Logan, Johnny, Sia and myself) presented this morning's ship report and have discovered that from 1100 (11:00 AM) today we are only 732.6 nautical miles (nm) away from our destination, Barbados! The 2100-mile journey sure is flying by. We are now sailing an average speed of 7-8 knots, making 167 nm since yesterday.
Also, to sum up our report, Johnny presented a short story about the little ducky who won the dance competition, and then of course we showed off his dance. Some things you do at sea to keep entertained are often better than TV.
Yesterday we landed our first fish of the crossing, a mahi mahi; it will be a yummy supper tonight. Today directly after class we saw our first rain, which most people haven't seen in a long time, due to our being in tropical and dry countries, or like me coming from the cold, snowy east coast of Canada.
Well hopefully we will keep up this nice speed and arrive in Barbados before the three-week mark as thought. The trade winds have been very good to us and I don't think we could ask for a better crossing, even though we have had a few rolls and things fly off the table during meals, but that's all in the fun! For my first Atlantic crossing it's been a pretty sweet sail.
