I awoke, sleep still in my eyes. After breakfast Nina and I discovered Easter eggs drawn with chalk around the ship. We hunted and found numerous colorful eggs, each with someone's name on it. Easter on the water. Time for renewal.
I can almost smell the Easter Bread (paska) baking at my parents' house. My family only makes it once a year, and then we wait, mouths watering, until we can eat it on Easter Morning. We savor heruka (Easter cheese), ham, kielbasa, hard-boiled eggs soaked in pickled beet juice until they are an amazing fuchsia color, and horseradish and beet sauce. It is amazing how one can miss certain foods while feasting on three gourmet meals a day made lovingly by Dani. Tonight we had duck with a great pineapple side dish.
