Today is St. Patrick's Day and I would like to say to everyone, enjoy. This is one of those days where I wish I were back in the states, as Columbia, SC is hosting its annual Five Points festival to celebrate the holiday. I will truly miss the green beer and great music, but especially the time spent with all my friends.
The last few days have been very nice aboard Amistad. The only thing I worry about is the lack of wind we are experiencing, which could turn our trip into a very long one. However, the conditions and spirits are high which makes for an enjoyable ride. In two days, Nina, Ben, Joy and myself are to prepare a report on "Bury The Chains." The book is about the abolition of the Atlantic slave trade in Great Britain. I enjoyed the book and learning about it's central character, Thomas Clarkson.
I can't stop thinking about March Madness and all the other great sports I am missing. I know it sounds silly but I think about it on a daily basis, as for the last 10+ years of my life March has been consumed by college basketball. I guess missing this years tournament will make next years that much more special.

All is well here other than Grandma was sick with the flu for about 10 days and Uncle Dick is having problems with his back (3 weeks now). Uncle Hugh was here for a couple days. Spring has sprung in the Carolinas! Warm weather and blooming flowers.
