How de body, de body great…. yesterday Drew and Allison left for their adventure…they were the last of the crew from the second leg of the voyage (Drew that is)…
Everyone is busy with task at hand sail mending, repairing the head rig, the everyday up keep, souls and bowls…and the new crew familiarizing themselves with ships operations…
I have been hearing the stories of what some of the Sierra Leonean went through during the war…and how they had to hide in the bush, cook at night, leave their villages and the physical abuse…but through all of this these people have a wonderful spirit and kindness and light in their eyes…it is very humbling…
Madame Pele and I are reconnecting…it can get a bit warm in the galley so I get up early and turn her on and turn her off when I have completed the meal…so breakfast was strawberry pancakes, orange slices, yogurt, juice, cereal …lunch was cold chicken, black-eyed peas, corn pudding, chick pea salad, cheese platter and crackers, ice tea…dinner pasta, creamy pesto sauce, sausages, sautéed french beans with roasted onions, pickled beets, plum tomato, mozzarella cheese, artichoke heart salad, homemade rolls…
We found out it was Toby’s 22nd birthday (after dad Ben checked his passport to make sure lol) so I made a chocolate chocolate cake and we surprised him after dinner….with singing the happy birthday song written by Stevie Wonder …there was singing and dancing by all…schooner bums sure know how to have a great time…
Well today looks like my first adventure in shopping in Sierra Leone…Mahalo Heather for the helpful tips…
Love to my nuggets
Ashay
Bon appetite
