Between Alamo and Gettysburg Memorial chapters - this is where Judith Dupre placed the Amistad as one of the great American Monuments in her recently published book: "Monuments: America's History in Art and Memory"

In the author's words: "Monuments are our response to the collective need to remember, revisit, and delineate the dreams of history. The best memorials are not mere relics, but extraordinarily rich communications from the past, living history books that illuminate societal, political, and cultural values at specific moments in time."

MUCH MORE than a "coffee table" book!  Getting five stars readers' reviews - highly recommended as a gift and opportunity to learn American History.

"...  fascinating and unusual book is beautifully produced..."

"...Wow, and wow again!"

"...The sheer beauty of this book shines on every page..."

"...both thoughtful and captivating..."

This book is a very important statement of those symbols we hold dear as a nation. Through the good and bad times we look to our monuments to inspire, remember and reflect on who and what we are as a nation and a people. I recommend that you get a copy to explore those places and events that you may never get to see. AMISTAD is the only monument that can come to you, do not miss it when it comes your way
