A New Ferry E-mail

Looking over to the public wharf this morning, there's new sight, a fresh vessel, low to the water, 40 feet long, I guess. She's the new transport to the airport and will stay at her berth and work from here. We haven't seen her move yet, but hopefully the schedule will be up and running by the time Eve and I are ready to depart the Amistad. The two alternatives have been a bus/ferry from another site and a 1960's vintage Russian helicopter that the Canadians won't use due to a crash last year that killed a political minister and flock of administrators for the Sports Ministry. The replacement was just that, not an upgrade. So the prospect of dragging my hockey bag uphill through the streets to the bus stop has been belayed in favour of a fresh alternative. Hell, they could probably just come along side and we could heave our belongings on board! We'll see.

Okay, so here's the joke of the day,

Why won't the first mate play cards?

Because she's sitting on the deck!

Adapted from the Day newspaper in New London, Conn. Ben brought a couple of papers for me, hearing that I'm a bit of a media junkie. I ought to have been broken of that habit, but sitting with a newspaper and a cup of coffee is the ultimate in civility for me. All's right with the world then. The locals are amazed at the photos of big snow in the Rockies and Canada, of course, they've never seen anything like that. Those of us who have enjoyed lots of snow and appreciate not shoveling enjoy the photos and the heat here in the tropics.

The city is waking finally. The president created a lot of goodwill recently by organizing extra flights to Mecca for the Haj. Now that the festival is over and the pilgrims have returned home, the streets were filled with beautifully attired paraders making their way to the national stadium. The goodwill continued as they expressed their thanks for his part in making their obligation a reality and celebrated their fellowship. What I saw was spectacular.

All's well on board, love to my girl and all my people, HK

Hi Heather,I see you are looking for a ride to the airport! The vessel you have sighted could that be Ivan Holseys "Amistadt", a 60 feet 80 passenger boat w. lifevests?
It is at government wharf I believe at the moment if it is not sailing with tourists.
You might give him a call, maybe he can help you out : 33 504 324 -- he could might be able to pick you up alongside "Amistad" Kind regards Sonja Holsey(Ivans mother) in Denmark
