Lat: 24 14.5 N Long: 019 45.8W
Speed: 6.1 K
Course: 220 T
Wind: NNE force 3
Seas: 6 - 8 down from 12-15 last night - lumpy!
Weather forecast: Much like the pilot charts we looked at in prep fro the trip - we have been experiencing consistent NNe'ly winds - with slght shifts in the NE-NW sectors and ranging in force from 3-6 with short low impact bouts of rain -
Visited by an owl today - not great news for the owl as we are 200 miles off the coast of Mauritania - but kind of an amazing sight for us - we suspect it was an African owl - as that is the closest land by several degrees. S/he was small in body, tannish with dark brown markings on the feather ends - and that distinctive owl head - deep eyes, sculpted feather cheeks, little tufted ears and a curious tilt to his/her head as she checked out the crew on the deck. Owl landed on bowsprit and yard rested for awhile and then left..... I suspect our decks did not have the4 mouse population s/he was looking for.....

Sailing under 4 lowers and topsail as we have been for all but 5 or 6 hours since leaving Lanzarote....
