Today we evolved again, our dynamic crew is full of change and opportunity. Leaving the vessel were Ella, AB, Hannah, 3rd Mate and Navigator, Mike, 2nd Mate and Bos'n and Paul, Chief Mate and bottle washer. An on deck scrubbing and a little shave, and the handlebar moustache reappeared on Mike's face after a long absence, looking ever so much like a 70's movie star. Ella was ready in a heartbeat and Hannah calmly spoke her peace and drifted off. Paul, however, was another matter. As he wandered fore and aft, I could almost hear the memories pinging around in his head. He's spent a long time aboard the Amistad as First Mate. We've arrived safely and intact at each port of call on the first two legs of the Freedom tour, due in no small measure to these fine mates and crew. His fishing gear left in the aft cabin awaits the next promising mate to cross the Atlantic. The tuna, wahoo and mahi mahi will grace the Amistad table only if another competent fisherman steps forward. We'! Comments
