The city has been a raucous party all night, music, hollering, firecrackers, I can only imagine. After the mayhem of the market yesterday, I had no interest in finding a party or dance to bring in the New Year. It's just way too much input. Our little group was all on board and I'm glad of it. I heard them talking and laughing at midnight, from the comfort of my nest on deck.
We had a nice meal of spaghetti, corn bread and green beans at supper, with a Hebrew blessing offered by Father Paul. It's fine to have a person of the cloth aboard, a whole new element has evolved in his arrival.
Our life on board is routine and predictable. We drive the small boat, eat, scrub, wash, rest, eat, move water, sand, sew, bind, rest, eat, chat, bathe, laugh, eat, sleep. Not too much variation.  Add to that the doings of days off for the crew, shopping, beaching and touristing and that's a good idea of our daily doings. Laundry is important because we sweat, but we handle our own on the boat. The ship's laundry is sent out and that'll be back one day soon.
Otherwise, we enjoy the heat, most of us are from northern climes and can appreciate the fact that Canada and most of the Northeast is regularly covered in snow, rain and cold temperatures. I'm grateful not to be hauling firewood through the snow and scraping off the truck to see the road. I don't miss driving in the snow. It was fun driving in Portugal, Cascais and Lisboa, but I wouldn't want to drive around here. There's far too many people, bicycles, autos and pedestrians. That's why we have professional drivers take care of us, they're used to it and don't lose their cool.
Love to all my people. HK
