As I write it is 2030, and we are boiling along at about 8 knots under an almost full moon. The seas amazingly seem calmer than they did earlier today, when there was less wind to speed us towards Freetown. The moon has a big silver path on the water, and is also brightly lighting the foam in our wake. What seems like hundreds of dolphins are playing all around us, repeatedly jumping and flipping. Sometimes they land on their backs with a huge splash. The sunset this evening was spectacular, with huge sweeping clouds that lit up gold, then peach and orange, until at last they turned a deep glowing red as the final rays of sun shone on them and they slowly went dark against a bright turquoise and green background.
